Faced with rumors and concerns related to health threats in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, young people from the rural health zone of Idjwi and those from the Miti-Murhesa health zone have decided to mobilize alongside community radio station Kalinga and the online media outlet DEC-Organization DRC (www.dec-rdc.org).
Their objective is clear: to combat misinformation, dismantle prejudices, and strengthen community awareness in order to effectively protect the population.
Aware that misinformation often poses a major obstacle to prevention efforts, these young people are increasing their community outreach, radio programs, and information campaigns tailored to local realities. Their commitment stems from the conviction that access to reliable and verified information remains one of the most effective ways to prevent health risks and encourage responsible behavior.
Through their determination and sense of responsibility, these community actors demonstrate that young people can play a decisive role in protecting public health. By uniting around a common ideal—preserving the safety and well-being of their communities—they send a powerful message: solidarity, information, and civic engagement remain the best defenses against rumors and fear.
