IfE is a network of activists around the world sharing information and ideas, and developing and implementing effective strategies to empower people for greater social, economic and political equality. Together we make things happen!

1. IfE’s Field Hearings are at the heart of all our actions. Field Hearings are a form of community organizing, helping us to build strong relationships with community members and to learn what their needs and priorities are. All our Field Hearings are conducted by local partners who know the language, culture and circumstances. Partners also follow up by working with community members to fight for what they need and demand.  Read more…

2. IfE’s Participatory Enterprises (PARTICEN) Project is being developed in response to one of the primary demands of Field Hearings communities: we need stable economic support that meets our needs! Local partners hold structured conversations in the communities, then help community members develop community-initiate economic enterprises that are sustainable, pro-equality, and democratically governed. A committee of experts backs up the work by sharing experience and advice.  Read more…

3. IfE’s Equity Action Collaborative Project is another way we back up the communities who are on the front lines of struggle for greater social, economic and political equality. Our Action Groups provide opportunities for global collaboration on critical issues related to the fight against inequalities. People working within their own communities and nations can link up to share information and ideas, and to develop and implement global strategies if needed.  Read more…

4. IfE’s Activist Boot Camp provides an accelerator experience for activists to rapidly develop their strategies for non-violent democratic change, with help from experienced long-time activists with a track record of successful organizing and involvement. For those who can’t attend in person, we also provide on-line sessions to brainstorm critical questions and develop strategies for organizing and change.  Read more…

5. IfE’s national chapters are organized locally in countries with 5 or more partners. Each group of partners makes its own decisions on top priorities for action, within the vision and mission of IfE. Field Hearings must be held first, so that the needs and priorities of poor, socially excluded and marginalized communities are integrated into your plans for action.  Read more…

6. IfE compiles “intelligence” (information and analysis) about each country, so that we all understand what we are up against regarding empowerment and equality, and can develop coordinated and effective strategies for overcoming inequality. As current trends play out, people become more desperate and the world becomes more dangerous. It is essential to build strong connections for information-sharing, dialogue and decision-making between those of us who believe in a more equitable and cooperative way of life. (You can select this option on the form.)

7. IfE’s Secretariat includes the people and activities that keep the entire organization coordinated and moving forward. We don’t have a central office – rather, this is a “virtual Secretariat” where meetings and activities take place in cyberspace. We stay in touch by email and through various discussion and co-editing platforms. We always need people to help get things done! Activities range from translation & editing through fundraising. (You can select this option on the form.)
